This is the first thing I see every morning when I wake up. It's the view from my bathroom window. I've photographed it every imaginable time of day and season for over a year now with the intention of painting the different views.

So far I've only painted it once. I think I might get a new watercolor journal and dedicate it just to this view.

I photograph it because photography is very immediate, but painting allows you to more deeply experience it.

This photo was taken in the early morning when the sun is rising from the east and hits the left side of the houses.

This painting was done from a more gray day photo. All the colors were grayed down and there were no shadows to speak of.
